CARROLLTON SCHOOL GIVEN TEN ACRES

The biggest event for Carrollton so far this year was the donation of ten acres of land for a high school site. The land is located just across the Carrollton-Richardson Highway south of the school building on the hill. Mr. D. Perry, one of our highly esteemed and affluent citizens made the gift.
The provisions of the gift are that the site shall be used for school purposes or revert to the original owner or his heirs, and that construction of a school house shall begin with three years.
The property is valued at $10,000 and is such an ideal site for a high school for the northwest part of Dallas county that it should be accepted and a consolidated high school for this section of the county built and called the D. Perry High School. The announcement of this magnificent gift was made by Prof. J. P. Harris last Friday evening at the annual commencement exercises. County Superintendent Goerner was in attendance to make the address to the class and asked that Mr. Perry, who was in the audience, stand up that they should see the donor of such a gift and that he should receive the thanks of the people for it. He was much pleased that such a gift should be made, and coming at a time when it was so much needed is more pleasing. - Carrollton Chronicle
