The Charter Glee Club of Carrollton

This is a picture of the first Glee Club organized n Carrollton by Mrs. W. L. Martin, in 1928. All members here shown are yet living; many are married and have children. They are, reading from left to right back row, Christine Mayes, Ollivene Patterson, Willie Faye Hofmann, Mrs. W. L. Martin, Bessie Mae McRight, Georgia Myers, Pearl Smith (Miller), Frances Gravley (Price). Front row, left to right; Jay Ella Myers (Noble), Jewel Byrd (Coonrod), Jacque Lewis (Breedlove), Edith Skiles (Coonrod), Ellouise Chastain, Coleen Brake (Allen). You wil hear a number of these ladies on the Homecoming Program today (Oct 29, 1937).
Jewel Byrd Coonrod, Jaque Lewis Breedlove and Coleen Branke Allen will b e heard in trios, while two young ladies not shown in this picture; Loda Belle McRight and Beulah Knight will also be present and appear in a couple of trios and in ensemble work.
