The following article was printed in the Oct 29, 1937 Carrollton Chronicle.  It documents the Carrollton High School mascot change from the Yellow Jackets to the Lions.  The plaque on the Victory Bell, on display in the R. L. Turner High School, incorrectly states that the change occurred in 1947.  Every issue of the Carrollton High School yearbook, which began in 1939, consistently shows the school mascot as the Lion.

 

In the following Dallas Morning News Clipping of Oct 5, 1934, the Carrollton team is referred to as "The Yellow Jackets"
