Victory Bell

The Victory Bell was donated to Carrollton High School by the Senior Class of 1940. During football season the bell was rang to signify victory by the yellow jackets football team. The bell could be heard by the citizens of Carrollton in the valley around the square. In 1947 [note] the name of the team was changed from the Yellow Jackets to the Lions.
The Bell was moved to Standridge Stadium in 1964 where it was displayed until a new stadium was built in 1999

The bell is now on display near the administration offices of R. L. Turner High School. The plaque on the bell incorrectly states the change of the school mascot from the Yellow Jackets to the Lions occurred in 1947.  This change was made in 1937. See the article The Lions Tale Slashes Onto Stage
