OBITUARY

Allen, Theresa Goss
May 19, 1930 - March 2, 2019

Allen, Theresa Goss
Theresa Goss Allen went to be with her Lord on March 2, 2019. She was born May 19, 1930 in Grosvenor, Texas to Durwood and Callie Goss. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Wayne and her oldest son, Steve. She is survived by her children, Sunni Stokeld and her husband Brian, Grant Allen and his wife Kristy, seven grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Theresa graduated from Howard Payne University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, and with a Master of Science degree in Counseling from North Texas State University (UNT).

She taught elementary school for 20 years in Texas, teaching the last 10 years in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. After she retired, she served alongside her husband in the pastorate at First Baptist Church, Carrollton, in the role of counselor. Together they served at First Baptist Church, Carrollton for 34 years. During that time, she traveled with her husband all over the world serving as mission volunteers. As a result of their many trips to India, two orphanages in India were named for Theresa Allen.

After her husband retired from the full-time pastorate, they both began working for Dallas Baptist University, where she served as a counselor for international students while he taught in the College of Christian Faith. They faithfully and joyfully served together in every place the Lord led them. She had no greater joy than to work alongside her husband raising their children and meeting the needs of families in their church and around the world.

The visitation/reception with the family will be Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 2400 North Josey Lane, Carrollton, Texas 75006.

The Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 10:00 am at The First Baptist Church Carrollton.

Because of her husband’s military service, she will be interred, with a private service, at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.

To honor Theresa’s life, donations can be designated for: The Wayne and Theresa Allen Endowment Fund at First Baptist Church, Carrollton, 2400 North Josey Lane, Carrollton, Texas 75006 and The Dr. Wayne and Theresa Allen Endowed Scholarship at Dallas Baptist University, 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
