Dr.
Wayne L. Allen
(September 21, 1929 - June 4, 2012)
Dr. Wayne L. Allen
Dr. Wayne Allen went to be with his Lord on June 4, 2012 in Carrollton,
Texas. He was born September 21, 1929 at Indian Creek, Texas to Ludlow
and Mattie Allen, and he joined them in heaven at the age of 82.
He is survived by his spouse of 60 years,
Theresa, three children ,
Steve , Sunni , and Grant and their spouses, 7 grandchildren, and 3
great-grandchildren.
He graduated from Howard Payne University with a Bachelor of Science
degree, Southwestern Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree, and
received a Doctorate of Divinity degree from Dallas Baptist University.
Dr. Allen served as senior pastor of
First Baptist
Church, Carrollton, Texas for 34 years. After retiring from that
position in 1999, he served as the Dallas Baptist Association/ Dallas
Baptist University liaison, as well as being a part-time professor in
the College of Christian Faith at DBU until February, 2012. He also
served as trustee on numerous boards including Southwestern Seminary and
Dallas Baptist University.
The visitation/reception with the family will be Sunday evening, June
10, from 5-7 pm in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church,
Carrollton, Texas. The funeral service will be held Monday, June 11, at
10 am at First Baptist Church, Carrollton. Because of Dr. Allen’s
service in the Air Force, interment will be held at the Dallas/Ft.Worth
National Cemetery Monday afternoon at 2:15 pm.
Memorials may be made to the Wayne and Theresa Allen Endowment Fund, at
First Baptist Church, Carrollton, 2400 N. Josey, Carrollton, Texas,
