OBITUARY Nancy Gene
Butts Altizer
Mrs. Altizer, 90, of Charlotte, died Monday, May 5, 2008 at Sardis Oaks.
She was born November, 2, 1917 in Farmers Branch, TX to the late
Carl Knighton and
Dena Smith Butts.
Mrs. Altizer loved cooking and had several of her recipes published in Southern
Living magazine. Her other hobbies included needlework, a wonderful garden, and
flowers. She was a member of Dilworth United Methodist Church since 1949, where
she was active in the Mary & Martha Class, the Heritage room, and the 39 and
holding club.
Survivors include her loving husband, Kenneth
Walton Altizer of Charlotte; children, Virginia Kendall and husband, Don of
Charlotte, Kenneth Walton Altizer, Jr. and wife, Berta of Oklahoma City, Sandra
McRae and husband, Joel of Midland, NC; grandchildren, Laura Zacharczyp and
husband John of Huntersville, Jonathan Kendall and wife Tina of Cary, NC, Daniel
Altizer and wife Julie of Carmel, IN; great-grandchildren, Joshua Kendall and
Catherine Kendall, Ethan Altizer.
A service to celebrate her life will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008 at
Dilworth United Methodist Church in the Terry Chapel with the Dr. Ben Devoid
officiating.
Memorials may be made in her memory to: Dilworth United Methodist Church, 605
East Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203.
Arrangements are in the care of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East
Blvd.
