Judy Nadine Barbee, age 76, of Scroggins, passed away peacefully in her
sleep in the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the
Whispering Pines Nursing Home in Winnsboro. Judy was born on June 14,
1941 in Carrollton, Texas to the late William Henry Leo and Lucille
Byers Savell.
Judy married the love of her life and her best friend, Billy G. Barbee,
on September 16, 1958. Together they would share the next 34 years
raising a family and living a lifetime of memories. He preceded her in
death on September 24, 2002.
Judy moved to Scroggins in 1984 where she and her family quickly found
home. They attended the Clearwater Baptist Church. Judy worked the
majority of her life as a booker for various industries but the time she
spent at the Cypress Springs Country Club was by far her favorite job,
mostly for the free golfing. When her health allowed, Judy enjoyed
quilting and sewing. She made countless gowns, dresses, and quilts for
her grandchildren when they were growing up. Those who knew Judy best
will always remember the love she had for fishing, cooking, and even
water skiing. Judy leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and
devotion that will live on in the hearts of those she knew and loved.
Judy is survived by one son, Billy G. Barbee, Jr., and wife Kathy, of
Slanton, Texas; two daughters, Larisa Barrett, and husband Roger, of
Mount Vernon and Karen Brown, and husband Steve, of Lewisville, Texas;
grandchildren, Roger Barrett, Jr., and wife Jennifer, Michelle
Rodriguez, and husband Jose’, Kristan Brown, Stephanie Brown, and Sarah

sisters, Barbara Lewis of Kopperl, Texas and Becky Bray, and husband
Pete, of Lorena, Texas; and by a host of other relatives and very
special friends.
Judy was also preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Ann Nelson.
