OBITUARY

THE PARIS NEWS, June 20, 2002: ‘Sherry Ann Nelson, 67, of Reno died Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at Christus St. Joseph’s Hospital South. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, at East Paris Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Fortenberry and the Rev. Larry Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. She was born March 7, 1935 in Dallas County, a daughter of Leo and Lucille Byers Savell. She married Ernest M. Nelson Jr. on Oct. 25, 1972 in Paris. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and caregiver to all. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Savell, a son, Joel Terry Ivy and a grandson, David Joe Nelson. Survivors include her husband, Ernest; her mother, Lucille Savell; five children and their spouses, Elaine and James Workman, Sharon and Harry Perry, Pam and Bruce Bestul, Tina Gordon and J. C. Layton, Tammie and Mark Bates; stepchildren, Jan Nelson, Jack Nelson, Jim and Deneen Nelson, Ida Nelson, Jimmy Ivy, Howard Ivy, Lucky Ivy, Lean Scott, Ruth Lyles; grandchildren, Candy Trammel, Calvin Smith, Jesse Workman, Shantell Workman, Jason Mooneyham, Crystle Mooneyham, Dayde Mabry, Brian Mabry, Necah Bestul, Ryan Gordon, Blake Gordon, Aaron Bates, Leah Bates, Susan Rouabah, Ashley McKinney, Josh Nelson; brother, Leo Savell; sisters, Barbara Lewis and Melvin, Judy Barbee and Bill, Becky Bray and Pete; and numerous great-grandchildren. Pallbearers with be grandsons, Calvin Smith, Jason Mooneyham, Dayde Mabry, Brian Mabry, Ryan Gordon, Aaron Bates, Jesse Workman and Blake Gordon.’
