OBITUARY

BERNDT
ANNIE LOU

Our sweet spirit, Annie Lou Berndt, age 88, joined her heavenly father April 5th, 2004 after a valiant battle with cancer. I've finished the race with faith and courage. While through it all I have kept true to him. The time has come for me to stop fighting and rest. In heaven a crown is waiting for me, which the Lord the Righteous Judge will give me on that great day of his
return. Not just for me, but to all those, whose lives show that they are eagerly looking forward to his coming back again." She was born February 2, 1916 in San Angelo, Texas to Azor and Alice Little, she spent her childhood on a dairy farm on the corner of Walnut Hill and Midway Road in North Dallas. Having spent her entire life in this area, she , she shared wonderful stories of Dallas long ago.
She even remembered riding a horse and buggy down Hillcrest Ave. Her first date with her husband was at Princes Hamburgers on Lemon Ave. Then the couple watched airplanes take off at Love Field Airport. Like her beloved flower Gardens and wild birds, she nurtured all around her selflessly. She also wasn't above snatching cuttings from a strangers garden and she always carried a baggy full of Ru-Tone in her purse for just such occasions. This earth has lost a fine and loving gardener. She was preceded in death by her parents, Azor and Alice Little, three brothers, Jesse Harmon and Curtis Little, one sister, Mary Alice (Little) Grimes. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Walter Edwin Berndt; Daughters Deanna B. Averett and Cathryn B. Westbrook; and son Edwin Berndt, Jr.; her four grandchildren and six great grandchildren; many nieces nephews and cousins. They will miss their "Mama B" very much. Our special thanks to Dr. Jerry Kaumo, Steve Perkins and all special people of Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. Visitation 6-8 pm April 7, 2004 at North Dallas Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Methodist Church Carrollton, Texas or the American Cancer Society. Funeral Service at North Dallas Funeral Home Thursday, April 8, 2004 at 6:00 pm. Burial will follow at Furneaux Cemetery.
