School Changes Are Announced; Principal Resigns
School to close Last Of May; No More Holidays
The Carrollton High School went on an all-out war basis this week with the
announcement that there would be no more holidays for the current year and that
classes would be held on two Saturdays to enable the school to close the last
week in May instead of the first week in June as had been originally scheduled.
Originally, Washington's birthday was to have been a holiday for students and
faculty and there was to have been a two-day holiday at e4aster. Classes will be
held on Saturday, April 6 and Saturday, April 13 to make up the five days needed
to close school activities one week early.
Announcement was also made of the resignation of E. P. Berryhill, for thirteen
and one-half years principal and teacher of mathematics in the Carrollton High
School. On March 1, he will assume his duties as teacher of mathematics in the
Grand Prairie High School. He and his family will live in Carrollton for
the remainder of this school term.
Berryhill came to Carrollton High School thirteen and one half years ago from
Leonard, Texas, where he had been principal of the grad school.

I am sand and lonesome tonight. My dog, "Pooch," died this morning because
someone poisoned him. Pooch was my faithful pal. He was my friends pal, too.
I still remember how I would throw bones and sticks and he would bring them back
to me I remember how he would play hide and go seek and football with us.
Pooch would not hurt anybody. Sometimes he would growl and bark when someone
would come, but he was just trying to protect me. He always met me when I came
home from school or town. He was always glad I was home.
Pooch liked to play with my cat, Nickie," too. And when we would play until we
were tired out, Pooch and Nickie would lay down in front of the fire and Pooch
would pick fleas off Nickie and Nickie would was Pooch's face and then they
would curl up together and sleep until bedtime. Pooch and I grew up together so
you see I loved him.
Today we buried Pooch and tonight I can't help thinking about him and how I
won't have him anymore. He was a good god. I know he was good enough to go to
heaven but somebody else did not think so. That's because they did not
know him. I want to ask that somebody not to poison anymore dogs because they
might be some other little boy's pal and remember, a boy loves his pal.
