Former Mayor of Carrollton, Blanton, Dies

Funeral services for Walter H. Blanton, 56, of 10916 Pinocchio, mayor of Carrollton from 1952 to 1958, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Rhoton, Weiland-Merritt funeral Chapel, Carrollton. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Blanton died here Tuesday.
A native of Shawnee, Kan., Blanton lived in Carrollton for 30 years before moving to Dallas eight years ago. He served on the Carrollton city Council from 1944 to 1952, and was a partner in the Blanton Grain Co., Carrollton. Blanton was past president of the Texas Grain and feed Association and of the Carrollton Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Hannah, two sons and four daughters. A brother, Jack Blanton, is a member of the Texas House of Representatives.
