ANNIVERSARY

Married 40 Years
Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Brake celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday, November 8.  They were married in 1891 in the old Nix home place east of Carrollton, Rev. George Good of Farmers Branch performing the ceremony. There were seven children born to this union all of whom are still living.
Those partaking of the bountiful 12 o'clock lunch were Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Brake and children, Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Brake and children; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Jones and daughter; Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Fyke and son; Miss Lena Maxey; Mrs. Ala Mae Brake and son; Mrs. Geneva Brake; Mr. Ross Nix and children; Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Brake; Myrtle Burnett; and Colene Brake, the youngest of the family. Others dropped in during the afternoon.
The lunch consisted of pumpkin and coconut pies; angel food and pecan cakes; lamb, potato and fruit salads; ice cream; baked hen and all the trimmings; and lots of other good things. The table was spread with a white linen cloth hand embroidered with chrysanthemums and napkins to match. The center piece was a beautiful  bouquet of chrysanthemums presented by Mr. and Mrs. Wilkie Fyke.
There was some remark that although the 40th anniversary was coral, they were making it china as there were three sits of china along with the other lovely gifts.
There was an occasion to laugh when Mr. Brake displayed her wedding dress very much trimmed with ruffles and ribbons, and rather wrinkled from being placed in the trunk "these forty years."
All departed late in the afternoon wishing them many more happy returns of the day - a long and happy married life.
