OBITUARY

Linda Brooks
June 26, 1953 - November 12, 2021

Linda Sue Brooks “Susie” of Carrollton, Texas

Susie was born in Nassawadox, Virginia on Friday, June 26, 1953. She passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021, with her daughter Amber by her side. Susie suffered for many years with several chronic illnesses. She fought long and hard for almost 15 years.

Susie was the first-born daughter of Richard and Dottie Powell. The family moved to Texas shortly after and landed in Farmers Branch, Texas a few years later. Susie graduated from R. L. Turner High School in 1971. She met the love of her life that summer, William Brooks, Sr. “Bill”, they were married on October 25, 1971. They settled with their family in Carrollton, Texas.

Susie is survived by her mother Dottie Powell; her daughter Amber Brooks (Fernando Garcia), Hayley Brooks and step-son, William “Lil’Bill” Brooks II (Tiffany) of Justin, Texas; Grandchildren: Andrew DePriest “Her Drew Drew”; Rachel, Emma, Kimber, Eli and Brittley Brooks; Her sisters Shirley (Randy) Seay and Sandi Powell; Nieces and Nephews: Rich (Christine) Seay, Robert Seay, Skyler (Sam) Salinas, Stephanie Brooks-Faunae of Terrell, Texas, Rodney (Terri) Shauchunas, along with many other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her Husband Bill Brooks, Father Richard Powell and Sister-in-law Alice Brooks.

Susie was a loving daughter, mother and topo of the line Gammaw. She loved all of her family blood or not. If someone was in need of anything she would be there helping. She loved to laugh, garden, fish and go out to eat with family and friends. Her favorite thing to do in recent years was playing Bunco with the neighbors. She liked to socialize, but with her rapid decline she missed several opportunities to do so.

Susie was a number cruncher with excellent customer service skills. She usually worked in offices that had warehouses attached, so she would definitely get her step in everyday (if that had been a thing back then). Susie’s husband served our country in the Army with three tours to Vietnam, three Purple Hearts and other honors. Susie will be buried in the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery with him.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas, Funeral Home at 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, TX 75234.

Celebration of life will begin at 1:00 pm, following the service there will be a funeral procession to the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas. A Military service will be held at 2:30 pm.
