OBITUARY
 
GEORGE GARNETT CENTER, was born to George W. and Willie Wortham Center on March 10, 1916 in Union Bower, TX. Mr. Center passed away at his residence in Carrollton, TX. on May 23, 2003. George graduated from Carrollton High School in 1935. During WWII he worked as a crew chief in the aircraft plants (in both Ft. Worth and San Diego) producing B-25's. After returning to Carrollton in 1947 he opened and managed "Carrollton Auto Supply" until retiring in 1985. Mr. Center was very involved with the Carrollton community as well, being a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Carrollton and a mason of Lodge #1400 for 59 years. He will also be fondly remembered as "the avid and gifted gardener at the corner of Whitlock and Broadway that would much rather share his produce with family and friends that charge for it." Mr. Center is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Catherine Sanford Center; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephew s and many more family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Visitation will be Monday, May 26 from 7-9 p.m. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, may 27, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Hilltop Memorial Park, Carrollton, TX. Lay minister Randall Jones, officiating.
