OBITUARY

Kenneth Henry Chambers
1938 - 2024

Kenneth Henry Chambers, 86 of Farmers Branch, was called home by the Lord peacefully early morning, Friday, March 1, 2024, after a long battle of heart disease and breathing issues. Ken was born in Cleburne, Texas on February 1, 1938 to Gaston Brock and Ida Bernice (Darnaby) Chambers. Ken grew up in Farmers Branch/Carrollton. Ken attended and graduated from Carrollton High School where he was a star running back for the Lions football team as well as on the Lions basketball team. Then Ken attended University of Texas at Dallas and Arlington. He held a few positions prior to joining the Farmers Branch Fire Department in January of 1962, where he excelled; in 1963 he was promoted from private to driver. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1968 and he went on to become Captain in 1969. Then retired after 30 years of service in March 1992. Ken always said, "My favorite place in Farmers Branch is The Fire Department of course". For Ken firefighting was the best part of his job.

Ken enjoyed lots of activities such as football, basketball, Golden Gloves boxing along with coaching sports. Many other activities included snow skiing, archery, and canoe racing with his brother Reubin. Ken along with his brothers enjoyed deer and moose hunting in Colorado, pheasant hunting in Nebraska, fishing in Texas, Tennessee, Colorado, Eureka, California, Florida, and even in Mexico. He also enjoyed ranching, and raising Cattle. Ken loved long road trips and lots of travel over the years. He also enjoyed dancing and watching the sunset. Most of all he loved being outdoors, listening to nature and good old school Classic Country Music.

After retiring Ken and his wife, Betty Ann moved to Mexico Beach, Florida. They loved living at the beach and Ken enjoyed many years in Florida, giving back to the community where his motto truly became "no shirt, no shoes, no problems."

Survived by bother Joe Chambers, sisters Frances (Chambers) Walker and Janetta Chambers, as well as first wife Barbara (Douglas) Chambers; children Mark (Beverly) Chambers, Beth Ann (Bill Miller) Chambers, Michelle Quintana and Jeff Quintana; grandchildren Brock (Teresa) Chambers, Shawna (Octavio) Mendez, Sarah Anderson Williams, Hayley Quintana and Jessica Padilla, Scott Quintana, 12 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
