Casey Clem, age 51, of Hebron, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014, at his home.
He was born March 20, 1963 in Denton, Texas to Dr. C. Truman Clem and Bettye Crider Clem. Casey married Lori on October 10, 1992 at the First Baptist Church of Hebron where he was a member.
Throughout Casey’s life he was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish and participate in any number of other outdoor sports. Never one to go it alone he always had the most fun when he was sharing the experience with his wife Lori, close friends and family. After graduation from North Texas State University (now UNT) he assumed the controls of the family business at Toothacres Pet Care Center. Working together with his brother Kelly he helped make Toothacres Pet Care Center and Toothacres Pet Crematory and Cemetery one of the pre-eminent pet care facilities in the nation.
Not one to only work at the office he also joined many organizations that were close to his heart. In each club he rose to the top and led various endeavors with each of them. Some of his proudest moments include being the Treasurer while serving on the Board of Directors of The Dallas Safari Club and co-chairing the convention of Dallas Safari Club in 1999 with his wife Lori. Casey followed this up by becoming the President of the Dallas Ecological Foundation.
Casey was later asked to become a member of the prestigious Shikar Safari Club International. Once again he rose to the top and joined the Board of Directors and again co-chaired their 2014 National Convention with Lori.
He also served his community as a loyal member and former Worshipful Master of Masonic Lodge #1335 in Dallas and a 32 degree Shriner.
Casey is survived by his wife, Lori A. Clem; grandchildren, Brooke Christine and Dustin Lance; parents, Dr. C. Truman Clem and Bettye Crider Clem; brother, Kelly Clem and his wife, Cara, and four nieces, Mackenzie Clem, Holly, Wendy and Katy Taylor.
A service to celebrate Casey's life will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Hebron. Interment will follow at Furneaux Cemetery in Carrollton. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. The family requests memorial contributions to be made to M.D. Anderson Multiple Myeloma Research, 1515 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030 or the Shikar Safari Club International Foundation, Attn: Donald A. Berg, 3838 Oak Lawn Ave., Suite 1720, Dallas, Texas 75219.
