Barbara Jean Johnson Collins
Born October 5,
1926 in Ida Grove, Iowa and passed away on Friday 4--1--2011. Barbara is
survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Edward
Collins; niece Mary H. Burcham; nephew, H.W. ,Dusty, Montfort; sisters-in-law Connie Young, Charlene
Houts and Lily Jackson. She is also survived by 4 stepchildren, several
step-grandchildren and 5 great nephews and nieces.
Barbara moved to
Texas with her family in the mid-1930's and grew up on her father's dairy farm
in Carrollton. She attended Carrollton High School, graduating as Valedictorian
of her class in 1944. Barbara then attended North Texas State University,
graduating with highest honors with a Business Administration degree in 1948.
During her college
years, Barbara was active in Gammadions, Mary Ardens, the International
Relations Club, Green Jackets, and Pi Omega Pi. She served as President of her
sorority Zeta Pi Gamma and also as President of the Inter-sorority Council.
After graduation, she toured Latin America and studied Spanish while living in
Mexico City.
On January 2,
1960, Barbara took a position with Trammell Crow Company as an administrative
assistant. Over her 25 year career, she rose to the position of limited
partner, becoming one of the first women to achieve that prestigious position.
After retirement,
Barbara and Ed traveled the world, hosting friends and family on many trips.
Barbara and Ed both enjoyed entertaining friends and family at their North
Dallas home and were very active in their Home Owners Association.
Barbara will be
best remembered for her hard work, attention to detail, her generosity and her
love for her family and friends.

Alzheimer's Association of Greater Dallas.

burial at Hilltop Cemetery,
