OBITUARY

Doyce Allen Gilmer
June 17, 1959 - August 15, 2024

Doyce Allen Gilmer, 65, of Farmers Branch, Texas passed away on August 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Greenville, Texas on June 17, 1959 to Doyce Lynn Gilmer and Bobbie Moseley Gilmer.

He graduated from RL Turner High School in 1977 before beginning his career in telecommunications at Southwestern Bell. For many years, he was a dedicated volunteer for Honor Flight, a non-profit organization that takes veterans to visit war memorials in Washington, DC.

Doyce most enjoyed riding and working on his Harley Davidson. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing among other activities. Known for being funny, he always had a comeback. Doyce’s friends and family were often in awe of his skills with his hands. He could repair, restore, create, and modify anything. He even remodeled much of his own home. When presented with a challenge, his family knew he would reply, “I can fix it,” and then he would do just that. He understood intuitively how things worked, and he kept busy, never wanting to lay around and ready to lend a helping hand to anyone.

Survivors of Doyce include his wife Jill; son Justin GIlmer; step-son Jason McCormick and daughter-in-law Laken; step-daughter Julie Weng and son-in-law Tim; sister Jan Offutt and brother-in-law Glenn; sister Kathy Zimmerman; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his two dogs, Tanner and Little Dude, who were his constant companions.
