for Leon Guynes Set Today in Carrollton CARROLLTON, Texas -
Funeral services for Leon Guynes, 43, of Carrollton, a former Dallas police
sergeant, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the College Avenue Baptist Church in
Carrollton, with the Rev. Nolan C. Sumner officiating. Burial will be in
Hilltop Cemetery here.
Mr. Guynes died Friday in a Dallas hospital after his car went out of control
and crashed into the rear of a parked auto.
Police officers speculated that Mr. Guynes who had a heart ailment, may have
suffered a seizure before the crash. An autopsy is planned to determine the
cause of death.
Born in Crandall, Kaufman County, Mr. Guynes was with the Dallas police
department from 1932 to 1956, when he retired. Since then he has been assistant
superintendent of the Texican Equipment Co. of Dallas.
Survivors are his wife; a son,
Randall Guynes of Carrollton; a daughter, Mrs. Bilidene Grozier of Frederick,
Md.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Guynes of Carrollton; a sister,
Mrs. Sarah
Salmon of Carrollton, and three brothers, Julius Guynes of Farmers Branch,
Bennett Guynes of Dallas and Paul Guynes of Carrollton.
Pallbearers will be Clint Mitchell, Edward Noble, Jimmy Taylor, Jimmy Galloway,
Kenneth Hodges, Mike Young, Morris Galloway and Philip Webb. Honorary
pallbearers will be members of the Carrollton High School football team. |
