OBITUARY HARWELL
CHARLES EVERETT, age 85, passed away October 29, 2004. He was born on
February 24, 1919 to James and Dora Lee Harwell of Coppell, TX. Before retiring,
Charles was a machinist press operator for the Gaylor Container Corp. An aid
outdoorsman, he had a love for hunting birds and fishing. Prior to his career,
he served a tour of duty with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater as a Sergeant
for the 32nd Infantry Division where he was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze
Star, and numerous military achievement service awards for his dedication of
service. As a young man in the early 1930's, Charles was a pitcher for a
semi-pro baseball team in Texas. He was a member of several organizations
to include the NRA, the VFW, and the American Legion. In addition to his
parents, Charles is preceded in death by a sister, Lillie Parker; brothers;
Frank (Bub), Floyd (Bucky), Lloyd, Roy (Chick),
Wayne, and Richard. He is
survived by his wife of almost 58 years Maurine; daughters, Charla Harp, Vicki
Scherer, and Vanessa and Galen Coffelt; son, Lanny and Michelle Harwell;
grandchildren, Blake and Drew White, Dana Harp, Matt Oyster and fiancé Linda
Willison, Katie and Willie Coffelt, Shelley and Jimmie Walter;
great-granddaughter Jillian Walter; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and
many, Many friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 31, 2004 from 5:00
to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 1, 2004 at
2:00 p.m. in the Rhoton Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at the Grapevine
Cemetery in Grapevine, TX. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks
to the wonderful staff at Heritage Gardens in Carrollton, TX. Anyone wanting to
make a donation in memory of Charles Harwell can do so c/c Webb Chapel United
Methodist Church in Farmers Branch, TX.
