OBITUARY

Brownie Passons Brownie Passons Hodge was born August 9, 1920 in Sparta, Tennessee and passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her children at her home in Flower Mound, Texas on December 19, 2018.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 71 years, Clifford Earl Hodge, Sr., who served with the United States Marine Corp in WWII.

While a young four-year old girl, her parents, William Brown Passons and Lenora Bell Passons moved with their three children to Dallas, Texas.

She went to Highland Park grade school and graduated from Forest High School. Brownie had many careers during her busy lifetime. While raising her six children, she directed and managed a nursery, preschool and kindergarten for Walnut Hill Baptist Church and Royal Oaks Baptist Church. She was the "chief cook and bottle washer" literally and without her efforts the churches would have had a difficult time existing. Her faith and her church were an important part of her life and she found time to teach Sunday school, play the piano and organ and raise her kids in church. Thru her diligence, each of her kids became baptized believers.

Years later she became the personal nurse to Dr. Eugene Massad, who she served for 22 years, all the while tending her children and never missing the boys' football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, or soccer games thru grade school, high school, college and beyond.

After retiring from Dr. Massad, she studied china painting, and to no one's surprise became quite accomplished. After a short while, she began teaching classes in china painting and doll making and continued to teach and paint thru her 94th birthday. She and Clifford were serious collectors of depression glass, Aladdin lamps and other antiques and never passed up an antique store in or out of the state. She also never passed up an opportunity to play dominos, forty-two, moon, spades and dirty darn, which she played right until the end. But thru it all, her primary focus was always her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.

Brownie is survived by her sister Christine Pope, daughter Ruth and husband David Adkisson, son Ken and wife Pat Hodge, son Ray and wife Heidi Hodge, son Cliff (Preshie) and wife Shelia Hodge, son Bill and wife Janice Hodge and daughter Ann Hodge Ingram, 10 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

The family is extremely grateful for the wonderful loving care given by her nurses and care givers, Naomi Nash and Karen Moor and would also like to thank Community Hospice of Texas.

Services are being held on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Lakeland Baptist Church, 397 S Stemmons Freeway, Lewisville, TX 75067. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 2:00. The burial will follow at Restland Memorial Cemetary, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243.
