OBITUARY Death Was Sudden
The community was greatly shocked when news was received here of the
sudden death of Tom Huffhines at his home in Lovedale Friday evening, March 20,
1931. Mr. Huffhines was seeming in such health that he was one not expected to
be called by the Angel of Death in such a manner..
It seems, from information at hand, that he ate a hearty meal and shortly
thereafter lay down. His wife called him a little later and getting no response
went to him and took his hand, finding it cold; death having come and called and
there was seemingly no struggle and no pain.
Tom Huffhines was born in Simpson county, Kentucky, April 22, 1876, and came to
Texas with his parents in 1882 and settled near Richardson. In 1902 he was
joined in marriage with Miss Willie Guion of Richardson. To this union four
children were born, one of whom passed away seven years ago. Surviving are the
wife, and three sons; Marion, Hester, and Ray. His father, Jim Huffhines, and
one brother, Sidd Huffhines, both of Richardson; three sisters, Mrs. Fred
Boatright and Mrs. Roy Liles of Carrollton, and Mrs. Clarence Tillery of Dallas.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist church of this place Saturday
afternoon and interment was made in Mount Calvary cemetery. Rev. W. N. Vernon
was in charge of the services and preached the sermon.
