NEGRO IS KILLED

Jonas Jackson, a negro well known in Carrollton and who made a crop on Wade Perry's place last year, was shot and killed Wednesday night of last week at his home near Seagoville and a white man named Bert Sanders has been arrested for the shooting.

It is stated that Jonas was shot in the back while returning from his smokehouse to his residence. He ran into the house, where one or two other negroes were at the time, and shouted that he had been shot and was going to die. The negroes had only moved into the neighborhood a day or two before, and when Jackson ran in and told them that he had been shot, they all became frightened and ran away. Jackson went up stars and came down again, and his body was found by deputies from the sheriff's office the following morning, still warm, lying on a bed on the first floor.
