OBITUARY
 
KEAS, , WALTER (WALT) CLAY Age 78, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2006 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was a resident of Farmers Branch since 1957. Born in Grand Prairie on August 17, 1928 to pioneer residents of that city, Buford Keas, Sr. and Fannie Mae Quinn Keas. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Kirby Klint; brothers Buford Jr. and Issac Franklin; sisters, Mary Evelyn Duncan and Mildred Juanita Cooper; and brother-in-law Herbert Armitage. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jane Armitage Keas, son Kimbel (Kim) and wife Cynthia of Austin; and daughter Karen and husband Quinn Ricker of Argyle. He is the proud grandfather of Cal and Chad Ricker and Kirby Keas. He is also survived by his brothers John Wesley and wife Axie; and Leslie Clint (L.C.) and wife Nell; sister-in-laws Sue Scott, Sally (Dr. Wm A) Hendricks, Lucille Armitage, Bonnie Keas; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Walt known affectionately to many as "Skeeter" grew up in Grand Prairie where he graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1946-49. He graduated from North Texas State University in 1956. He owned and operated Keas Construction Co. from 1969 until his retirement. Walt was a very friendly and kind person who "never met a stranger". He would literally give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He was truly one of God's gentlemen. The family thanks the members of his Sunday School class at Christ United Methodist Church in Farmers Branch especially "Walt's Women" for their prayer support, hospital visits, and other expressions of love. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6-8PM at Rhoton Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be Wednesday, 2PM at Hilltop Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to one of three charities, Argyle United Methodist Church- Children's Fund, 308 Denton St. Argyle, TX 76226; Kirby Keas Scholarship Fund- UNT Advancements, UNT Financial Aid and Scholarships, UNT Box 311250 Denton, TX 76203-1370; American Cancer Society- Dallas office 8900 Carpenter Frwy.
