OBITUARY
Beverly Lands, age 68, passed away at her home in West Columbia, Texas on
August 5, 2012 after an eleven month battle with brain cancer. After her
graduation (Cum Laud) from the University of Houston school of Civil Engineering
she worked for Dunbar and Dixon as a design engineer and later became the
assistant and then Brazoria County Engineer until she retired. She served nine
years to the Transportation Policy Council for the Houston-Galveston
Transportation Management Area and eleven years of service to the Technical
Advisory Committee. She was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church
where she served on Senior Adult Ministries (which she really enjoyed), Feed My
Lambs, Church Council and Bereavement Committee. She enjoyed genealogy and was a
member of the Columbia Genealogy Club and the Columbia Study Club. She had two
dogs that were shown to confirmation championships. She is survived by her
husband of 35 years, Jack F. Lands Jr., her daughter, Terri Regina Barnett of
Metairie, La., brother, W. M. Wilson of Carrollton, Tx., nephew Wylie Wilson and
wife, Kathy of Lake Dallas, Texas, two step children, (she loved like her own)
David Lands of Deer Park, Texas, and Angela Adams & her husband, Leslie of La
Porte, Texas, brother in law, Gerald Lands & his wife Frannie of Lake Jackson,
Texas, sisters in law, Joyce Roberts and Nancy Clark of Rockdale, Texas, and
numerous step grandchildren, nephews & nieces. Preceding her in death were her
parents, William Marvin Wilson and Ruby Farine Wilson of Carrollton, Texas
Funeral services will be held at Columbia United Methodist Church in West
Columbia on Thurs., Aug. 9, 2012 at 11:00 am with Pastor Patty Wehn Glowski
officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until service time at the
church.

A direct descendent of French immigrants who settled at La Reunion in what is
now the "Oak Cliff" area of Dallas, was born in a farmhouse on Grauwyler Rd. in
Irving TX to William Marvin and Ruby Farine Wilson.
Preceding her in death were her parents, William Marvin Wilson and Ruby Farine
Wilson of Carrollton, Texas
