OBITUARY

In Memory of
Virginia Katherine (Smith) Ledbetter
April 18, 1927 - June 22, 2012

Ledbetter, Virginia Katherine Ledbetter passed away on June 23rd, 2012 after a courageous six year battle with cancer. Virginia was born on April 18th, 1927 to Mrytle Carlton Smith and William Nathan Smith and grew up on a farmhouse with her brother Dale in Farmer's Branch. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Henry A. Ledbetter, a loving father and a Captain of the Oak Cliff Fire Department. They both attended Carrollton High School and were joyfully married on December 13, 1947. She is survived by her four children, Carolyn Strimpel, Jan Cox, Amy Ledbetter and Mark Ledbetter and their precious families. She is a beloved grandmother of ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Her friends and extended family are too many to list. She never met someone whom she did not welcome with the utmost love and hospitality. To those who had the great pleasure of her company she was renowned as a saint.

She was a devoted member of the Sunset Presbyterian Church and an active member of the Kessler Methodist Church. The Ledbetter family bought properties and refurbished them throughout the years; Virginia was known to many tenants as a kind and compassionate woman who would never dream of turning away people in need. If you needed something she provided in abundance. When walking through her door there was always something special cooking in the kitchen and a tall glass of iced tea to welcome you. She loved all animals great and small. When she smiled, which was often, the room lit up and happiness spread easily. She loved to collect treasures, never passed up curbside shopping and loved a good bargain. When you remember Virginia Ledbetter remember her immense capacity for love and generosity. She is the wind in the trees, the laughter on the water and the bird in flight. Her love is all around us and we thank God for her life and legacy of love. We celebrate her in all that we do. May you be blessed as we have been.

A Funeral Service will be held at the cemetery 10 a.m. this Tuesday June 26, 2012 at the Hilltop Memorial Cemetery located at 1810 N. Perry Rd. in Carrollton, TX. Following the service, friends and family are welcome to join us for a light lunch at a friend's house. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA, your local church or the charity of your choice. Hope is the wind that fills our sails and faith will carry us home. Our love and thanks goes out to you all
