OBITUARY
WILLIAM ROBERT LINN (5/25/1919 - 10/31/08)
Born May 25, 1919 to Edgar and Dellah Hughes Linn in Cooke County Texas, he
graduated from Riverside High School in Ft. Worth Texas in 1937 and attended
North Texas Agricultural College (UT-Arlington). He served in the Air Force
Training Command 1941-1946.
He was married to Vera Killgore of Ft. Worth, Texas for 54 years, and together
they raised their four children Kenneth, David, Nola and Patsy. After Vera’s
death, he was blessed to form another loving family with Mary Frances “Fran”
Scott.
He retired in 1981 from Mobil Oil Corporation after 34 years as Chief of
Maintenance of Mobil Aircraft Operations in Dallas, Texas. He is a past
President of the Society for Aircraft Maintenance Technology.
In addition to his work and family, William Linn’s community service spanned
three decades. He served on the Carrollton-Farmers Branch School Board, and was
appointed President Emeritus of the Board of Trustees after twelve years of
service, nine of which he served as President. He served as Mayor Pro-Tem of the
city of Farmers Branch, 1969-1977. After moving to Lake Kiowa in 1981 he was
active in the formation of the Kiowa Homeowners Water Supply Corp, and served
three years as its President. He also served for three years as Secretary of the
Lake Kiowa Property Owners Association.
WilliaM Linn was predeceased by Vera and Fran, his daughter Nola Linn Pellegrini,
and his granddaughter Nola Ann Linn.
He is survived by his brother Edgar Ray Linn and family of San Jose California;
his sons, Kenneth Linn of Grand Isle Louisianna and David Linn and wife Barbara
of Oakland Tennessee; his daughter, Patsy Linn Lee and husband Kenneth Lee of
Lantana Texas. He is survived by grandchildren Jennifer Linn Davidson, Lori Linn
Strickland, Mark Linn, Ashley Pellegrini and Matthew Pellegrini, and three great
granddaughters, Madeline Davidson, Jenna Strickland and Kate Strickland. He is
survived by many other relatives and friends, including Lee Killgore and family
of Lake Kiowa and Dana Holst and family of Liberty.
Services will be held at Clement-Keel Funeral Home in Gainesville on Saturday,
November 8 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to Home Hospice.
