OBITUARY

MANNING
RACHEL MAE left Carrollton, Texas on Tuesday, May 13, to visit her other loved ones.  She was born on June 15, 1909, in Trinity Mills, Texas, one of five children born to Ira and Jenny Mae Sanford.  As a long time resident of Carrollton, she was known and loved by many. Her home was a haven for those needing shelter, and her table was always set for anyone.  She enjoyed playing the piano, fishing at Lake Texoma, yard work, cats, and Texas Rangers baseball games.  She graduated from Carrollton High School and attended Metropolitan Business School in Dallas.  She worked for the Salvation Army, the Community Chest, and VentAHood where she took pride in being an efficient bookkeeper.  Predeceased by her husband Rene Paul Manning, she is survived by two children, Jean Bute of Carrollton and Alman Carloy of Denton.  She is also survived by a sister, Catherine Center of Carrollton, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Her practical approach to living and dying, her sense of humor, and her willingness to lend a hand will be greatly missed. A visitation will be held today, May 16, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Rhoton Funeral Home. Rachel's service will be held on Saturday, May 17, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park.
