OBITUARY Mrs. Marsh Of
Pioneer Family, Dies
Mrs May Marsh, 74, member of one of Dallas County's pioneer families, died
Saturday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Hasting, at the Littlebrook
Farms on Route 5, Dooley Road.
Mrs. Marsh was the former Miss May Eaton, a member of the pioneer Dallas County
Eaton family. Her late husband, Tom Marsh, who died in 1938, was a prominent
Dallas County cattleman and stockman. Marsh, for whom marsh Lane in Dallas was
named, was a descendent of the Marsh family that helped settle Dallas County by
founding the Peters Colony in 1844. The family for many years had had extensive
land holdings in Northern Dallas County.
Mrs. Marsh, a lifetime resident of Dallas County, was a member of the Webb's
Methodist Church in Farmers Branch and was active in church work there.
Besides her daughter, she is survived by a son, Tom Marsh, of Dallas, and a
sister, Mrs. Fred Toepperwein of San Antonio, and one granddaughter.
Funeral arrangements were pending Saturday night with the Oneal Funeral Home.

OBITUARY Mrs. May Marsh
Funeral Services Planned Tuesday
Funeral services for Mrs. May Marsh, 74, a member of one of Dallas
County's pioneer families, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Webb Chapel
Methodist Church of Farmers Branch. The Rev. L. B. Throne of Clovis, N.M.,
will officiate. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park.
Mrs. Marsh who was the former Miss May Eaton, died Saturday in the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Roy Hastings, at the Littlebrook Farms on Route 5, Dooley Road.
She was the wife of the late Tom Marsh, a prominent Dallas County cattleman and
stockman for whom Marsh Lane in Dallas was named.
Survivors besides Mrs. Hastings, include a son, Tom Marsh of Dallas; a
sister, Mrs. Fred Toepperwein of San Antonio, and two grandsons.
