OBITUARY
WALTER A. MARSH, SR.
DIES IN DALLAS
Walter A. Marsh, Sr., who died Monday at his home in Dallas was buried
Wednesday at Marsh cemetery in Farmers Branch following services at the Sacred
Heart Cathedral at 9:30 AM. Rosary was said Tuesday night at 8 PM.
Mr. Marsh is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lillian Marsh of Dallas, one daughter,
Mrs. Charles F. Hemphill, Dallas; two sons, John D. Marsh, US army, and Walter
A. Marsh, Jr., also in the US army, and one grandchild. He was an uncle of Mrs.
Roy Pierce of Carrollton.
Pallbearers were J. J. Foley, Edward H O'Keefe, Lynn V. Lawther, Charles R.
Moore, James McCaffrey and Will Dwyer.
Among those attending the funeral were Mrs F. B. Daggett, Mrs. Raymond Daggett,
Mrs. J. A. Hargrove and Mrs. Jimmie Pratt, all of Fort Worth. They returned to
Carrollton with Mrs. Pierce for a short visit Wednesday.

OBITUARY
Walter Marsh, Lifelong Dallas Resident, Dead
Walter A. Marsh, 69, who lived in Dallas County all his life and whose
grandparents were member of the original Peters Colony, near Farmers Branch,
died Monday at his home, 5436 Goodwin, after a brief illness.
Rosary will be said at the Ed C. Smith & Bro. Chapel Tuesday at 8 p.m. and
funeral services will be held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral with a solemn high
requim mass at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow at the
Marsh family cemetery near
Farmers Branch.
He was a descendant of one of the oldest families in Dallas County.
Harrison C.
Marsh and Mary Raymond Marsh, his grandparents, came to Dallas County from
Kentucky in 1943.
Marsh was born at Farmers Branch, attended school there and worked on his
father's farm and his cotton gin. Later he was employed by the Austin Bridge
Company as bridge supervisor. In 1932 he was employed by Dallas County in
Commissioner's District No. 1, and continued as a bridge builder until his late
illness.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Cathedral parish and belonged to the Holy
Name Society.
Surviving are his wife, Lillian Harmanson Marsh; a daughter, Mrs. Charles
Hemphill, Dallas; two sons, Cpl. John D. Marsh and Cpl Walter A. Marsh, Jr.; a
grand daughter; two sisters, Miss Susie Marsh and Mrs. Bess Longmire, Dallas,
and a brother, C. D. Marsh, Atlanta, Ga.
Pallbearers will be J. J. Foley, ,Edward H. O'Keefe, Lynn V. Lawther, Charles R.
Moore, James McCaffrey and Will Dwyer.
