OBITUARY

MRS. McALLISTER WAS ONE OF ORIGINAL DALLAS SETTLERS.

In the death of Mrs. Mary Marsh McAllister on Nov. 4 there passed out one of the surviving members of the three original families to settle in what is now Dallas. Mrs. McAllister had reached the age of 77 years and had lived in or near Dallas since 18??. the daughter of Harrison and Mary Raymond Marsh natives of Kentucky.
Having come to Texas, when the country was unsettled and Indians were a constant menace to the settlers, Mrs. McAllister witnessed wonderful changes and developments in Texas, particularly in this section of the State. She was married to J. J. McAllister on New year's day 1842 whom she survived by two years. Her children still living are Mrs. Clara Shanklin, Millersburg Ky, Mrs. Helen Eaton, Dallas, J. L. McAllister, ??? N.M.; Thomas McAllister and Mrs. Fannie Gray Phoenix, Ariz, Har???  Mrs. are Lizzie Daggett and Mrs. W. O. Neal of Fort Worth and Mrs. Mark Ellington, of Dallas. She left fifteen grandchildren and three great-grand-children.
Mrs. McAllister was buried at the family burying grounds near Farmers Branch.
