Debra
R. "Debbie" McCord
August 6, 1955 - July 17, 2021 | Resided in Edmond, OK
Debra Renea “Debbie” (Forsee) McCord was born August 6, 1955, in Dallas,
Texas. She was the oldest child and only daughter of Charles and JoAnn
Forsee.
Most of Debbie’s younger years were spent in dance, twirl, and the Drill
team. She also had fond memories of spending her summers in Red River,
New Mexico, and Colorado. Throughout Debbie’s life, travel remained a
favorite activity. From summertime mountain getaways to cruises and
islands, she cherished her time away with family and friends. She and
Robert continued their travel by eventually branching out into the
wonderful adventures of RV life. Together they traveled across the
United States making sure to hit their favorite places in Colorado and
New Mexico and several RV family fun spots like Jellystone Park with the
grand kids. They loved treating the kids to Great Wolf Lodge as well as
driving them to camp in Missouri near Branson.
Debbie was the ultimate Grandma. She loved nothing more than to be with
her grandkids. She attended countless sporting events, recitals, and
school performances. She spent MANY hours on I-35 headed to help with
and visit her “Austin grandkids”. And loved school pick-up trips,
Halloween parties and travel with her “Oklahoma grandkids”. Her 8
grandkids were truly her pride and joy.
Debbie cherished her extended church family and was an active member of
the Methodist church wherever she lived. Most recently, she attended
Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City. She enjoyed her Sunday school
class and getting to know others through crafting and additional groups
at church.
Debbie was known for being an amazing “crafter.” She joined and later
led her church’s crafting group. She was always doing arts and crafts
with her daughters while growing up, and then later with her grandkids.
She created countless keepsakes for her family, from crochet scarves to
hand-painted shoes.
Debbie had a huge heart for dogs. She loved them. Starting with Sundance
the Yorkie when she and Robert were first married. The first family dog
while her girls were growing up was Sandy, followed by Elvis. Current
dog, Sam, was by her side every day. Debbie also adored her “grand-dogs”
Freddy, Brooks, Twister, Kevin, Kodak and even Bear.
She loved cooking. A joy and legacy also shared to her family. There
were many meals at her grandmother’s home and the kids especially
enjoyed the Shahan fish fry. Debbie specialized in comfort food and her
broccoli casserole was famous. Grandkids requested Debbie’s Strawberry
cake for birthdays. She created a recipe book for her daughters Alison
and Amber to pass down all the family’s favorites including the
casserole, cake, sausage balls, fruit salad and many more.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Debbie is
survived by her loving husband, Robert McCord; daughter Alison McCord
Counts and husband Jack Jr.; daughter Amber McCord Frishman and husband
Adam; grandchildren, Jack III, Foster, Sawyer, Chloe and Carter Counts,
and Caden, Leighton and Connor Frishman. She is also survived by her
brother Danny Forsee and wife Liz and their daughter, Sydney, as well as
numerous extended family and a host of friends.
If Debbie were here, she would want to thank all the family and friends
who made her time special. She would also want to acknowledge the
doctors and nurses, especially Dr. Abby Bova, who cared for her and
Robert along their long journey with cancer.
Services to celebrate and honor Debbie will be 11:00 AM Monday, July 26,
2021 at Church of the Servant with a reception to follow. Donations in
lieu of flowers are suggested to the Susan G. Komen Foundation of
Oklahoma by visiting komenoklahoma.org. or 1900 NW Expressway, Ste.315,
Oklahoma City, OK 73118. |
