OBITUARY Mrs. McDowell,
County Resident 57 Years, Dies Mrs. J. G. McDowell, 87, a Dallas
County resident for fifty-seven years, died Monday at her home, 4912 Terry.
A native of Fairplay, Mo, Mrs. McDowell came to Dallas County in 1892 with
her husband, a farmer. The couple moved to Dallas from their home near Farmers
Branch when he retired thirty years ago. He died thirteen years ago.
Mrs. McDowell had been a member of the Farmers Branch Baptist Church since
1907. Surviving are three sons, V. H. McDowell, T. R. McDowell and J.
L. McDowell, all of Dallas; three daughters, Mrs. W. P. Echols of Farmers Branch
and Mrs. Mabel Sparkman and Mrs. Opal Murray, both of Dallas; fourteen
grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren. Funeral services will
be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Weiland-Merritt Funeral Chapel, 2909 Live Oak. The
Rev. John G. Moore will officiate. Burial will be in
Farmers Branch Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. McDowell's grandsons, Lee Wann, Aubrey Thorn, G. B.
Chambers, Hewlet Craven, Henry Stellings and Tommy Sprinkle. Dallas
