OBITUARY
McGehee, Dixie Texas lost a true Southern Belle on the first day of Fall,
September 21, 2008 when Dixie Nell Perkins McGehee, our loving mother and
grandmother, joined her loved ones in heaven, husband of 68 years, James; 1st
born daughter, Cornelia "Connie" Ray; mother and father, Lena & Roscoe Perkins;
and siblings, Bobbie Perkins Hamric and Glynn Perkins. Dixie was born in Briggs,
Texas on February 11, 1919 but grew up and attended school in Lampasas, Texas
where she met and married the love of her life, James McGehee in 1936. They were
blessed with three loving daughters. In 1952 they moved to Carrollton, Texas
where they owned and operated a Western Auto store and Army store. Dixie is
survived by daughters, Jimmie Nell McCracken, Austin, Texas and Gloria Ripoll,
Lucas, Texas; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel
Mae Yazell and Helen Salcher. We will be celebrating her life in a casual
graveside service on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Restland
Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. The family would like to thank Dixie's caregivers,
Angie Carter, Judy Carter and Genet Wolderufael for their tender and loving care
extended to Dixie for the past three months. Also, the family would like to
thank the staff of St. Michael's Hospice and Dayspring Assisted Living for their
love and care of Dixie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be
made to Dayspring Assisted Living, 6400 Cheyenne Trail, Plano, TX 75023 or St.
Michael's Hospice, 10214 Inwood Road, Dallas, TX 75229.
