OBITUARY James N. McGehee
McGEHEE, JAMES N. Daddy, Granddaddy, Uncle Jim - joined the company of "Heavenly
Angels" on August 23, 2004 at the age of 90 with his wife of 68 years,
Dixie Nell McGehee, by his side.
Born in Lampasas, TX June 12, 1914 to Thomas & Cornelia McGehee. In 1952, the
McGehees moved to Carrollton, TX, where he and Dixie operated retail businesses.
He served the community as City Council Member; School Board Trustee; member of
Rotary Club and Masonic Lodge #1400; Pres. of the Chamber of Commerce, & Zoning
Board member. Jim was an Eagle Scout, Methodist Layman & served aboard the USS
Mertz Destroyer during WWII. Jim was preceded in death by daughter, Cornelia
"Connie" Ray, and brother Thomas McGehee. Jim leaves behind a loving family:
wife, Dixie Nell, daughters Gloria Ripoll, husband Martin; Jimmie Nell
McCracken, husband, Jack; son-in-law James Ray; 6 grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren; brother Glen McGehee and sisters Marcie Lee Buchanan &
Donna Meyer. Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 26th, 10:30 a.m.
at Restland Memorial Park with Rev. Scott Sanford (grandson) officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Terry, Stanley Ray, Grant MacQuilkan, Tommy
Dodge and Justin Spangler. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lampasas
