OBITUARY Ross Nix Dies
Mr. Ross Nix passed away Tuesday morning at 12:40 after a year of serious
illness, and the last week before he died being spent in the St. Paul hospital,
Dallas, having every medical attention possible.
Mr. Nix was born east of Carrollton Jan. 9, 1873. His whole life being lived in
and around Carrollton. He was converted at an early age and joined the Union
Baptist church, and has been a member there since.
In 1897 he was married to Miss Annie Cox. To this union seven children were
born. One, a daughter, died in 1910. The others, three daughters, Mrs. Ada Lee
Grizzle, Mrs. Ollie Marvin Cook,
and Elletta Ross live at Lake Dallas. Three sons, Daniel,
Edgar Harland, and W. D. Nix live in Carrollton.
About six years ago Mr. Nix's wife preceded him to the great beyond.
Mr. Nix had lived at the Carrollton Dam, and since the Lake Dallas Dam was
built, he has attended the water works here for the city of Dallas.
The people of Carrollton will miss a well thought of and respected citizen.
Mr. Nix is survived by two brothers, Mr. Lynn Hoffman of Carrollton, Mr. Cliff
Hoffman of Denton and three sisters, Mrs. E. W. Brake of Carrollton, Mrs. Gene
Dennis of Montrose, Mo., Mrs. Leona Mooneyham of Commerce.
A year last July he was married to Mrs. Nannie McCommas.
Funeral was held Tuesday evening at 3:00 pm in Union Baptist church, conducted
by Rev. L. M. Joins, with burial in Perry Cemetery.
