OBITUARY

Walter Glynn Pettijohn

Known as Glynn to his family. Glynn was described perfectly at his funeral, "he never met a stranger". That sums him up. Glynn was always going somewhere and meeting everyone. The best memory I have of him as a child is Glynn playing game after game of 42 at our family get togethers. I know if you every needed a cup of coffee, he'd be happy to show you to the best cafe in town.

Walter Glynn Pettijohn, age 74, of Coppell, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2008, in Grapevine.

He was born December 23, 1933 in O'Donnell, Texas to Derwent Pettijohn and Thelma Faye Lee Pettijohn. Walter served in the United States Army. He married Carole Ferguson on January 26, 1958 in Hale Center, Texas. Walter was a very active member of Northview Baptist Church in Lewisville. He was a former member and founding member of the Coppell Lion's Club and was a former Coppell City Council member. Walter taught in the Carrollton Independent School District.

He is survived by his wife, Carole; daughter, Pamela Smith and her husband, Jim of Carrollton; sons, Michael Glynn Pettijohn of Carrollton and James Pettijohn and his wife, Shirlene of Houston; five grandchildren, Leslie, Jamie and Michael Pettijohn and Mike and Brandon Smith; sisters, Joyce Milligan of Highland Village and Pat Armistead of Killeen, Texas and brother, Terry Pettijohn of Houston.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2008, at Northview Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville. Reverend Kenneth Wells will officiate the service. The family requests memorial contributions made to Northview Baptist Church Building Fund; 1981 North Mill St., Lewisville, Texas 75057.
