OBITUARY
 
James Oscar Petty
1938 - 2015

James Oscar Petty went to be with The Lord on May 9, 2015. Born in Dallas, Texas to Will Gene and Lula Mae (Fine) Petty on December 9, 1938. James was reared in Carrollton and Coppell, Texas, and worked at the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD for 34 years in Facilities Maintenance as Department Head of Outside Maintenance. Previously, James worked at the City of Carrollton as a fire fighter and in the water department. He also was golf course superintendent at Country Place in Carrollton. James served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany and Vietnam. He loved to play golf and to watch the PGA and LPGA, and loved the Baylor Bears, especially Girls' Basketball. James is survived by his wife of 29 years, Alice (Wells), two sons, Jimmy and wife Sandy, Robert and wife Shelley, 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Billy, Frank, Clyde, Victor; 2 sisters, Kathryn Everest, and Elizabeth Hartsfield; and many friends. Pre-deceased by his parents, brother Robert Petty, and sisters, Doris Hamann and Beatrice Hatfield. Services will be held on Thursday, May 14, at 2 PM at Hebron First Baptist Church in Carrollton. Visitation: Wednesday, May 13, 6:30 - 8:30 PM at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. James took great pleasure in helping others and had a firm work ethic, always working hard, and was a "perfectionist" in everything he attempted. If he ever said you were a hard worker, then you knew you must be. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James' honor to: C-FB ISD Educational Foundation - Athletics, 2427 Carrick St., Farmers Branch, TX 75234.
