OBITUARY
PROCTOR
WANDA COX, Ph.D., passed away on July 30, 2002 - as a result of cancer. She was
the daughter of the late E. C. & Cora Cox of Terrell, Texas, and was preceded in
death by her brothers, Carl Cox, Jr. of Terrell, and W. A. Cox of Kansas City. A
graduate of UT, she earned her Ph. D. in economics from NTSU in 1979. She taught
kindergarten at Chapel Hill Methodist Church in Farmers Branch, 1961-64, and
founded the Day School at Northpark Presbyterian Church, 1964-67. She taught in
DISD at William Liscomb, 1967-68, and William L. Cabell, 1968-74, and then
served as a facilitator for science/health curriculum for DISD 1974-79.
From 1984-1992 she taught science and was department head at the
Vivian Field Middle School in
the Carrollton/Farmers Branch School district. She also taught at the
Thomas Edison Science Academy and the Sequoyah Environmental Science Academy.
Following her retirement from public education she taught and did testing at the
Art Institute of Dallas. For nearly 45 years she was an active member of the
Highland Prk Presbyterian Church, attending the Elliott class and serving as a
Deacon. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church of Temple at the time of
her death. She is survived by her two sons and their families, the Rev.
William Preston & Lanell Proctor of Rosemont, PA, and Dr. Terry Spencer & Susan
Proctor of Temple, TX, and her grandchildren, Cora Marie William Spencer, Sarah
Anne, and David Spencer. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 3,
at 11:00 am at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Temple. In lieu of flowers,
memorial gifts may be sent to the Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Dallas, TX,
Grace Presbyterian Church, Temple, TX or to Scott & White Hospice, Temple, TX.
