OBITUARY
 
RAMOS, NORMA MERCEDES of Carrollton, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 3, 2013. The daughter of Manuel Vega and Olympia Silva, she was born in St. Domingo, Nicaragua on November 16, 1939. Norma was raised by her maternal grandparents, Venansia and Manuel Silva while her mother attended school in Managua to become an executive secretary. Norma's grandparents were a big influence in her Christian faith. A family that placed great importance on education, Norma attended the Baptist Boarding School in Managua and later graduated from The Teresiano School for Girls where Norma improved her English. Norma travelled to San Antonio to attend Trinity University, During that time, Norma met the love of her life, Santos. Santos and Norma maintained a long-distance relationship while he attended Howard Payne University and she studied at Mary Hardin-Baylor. Norma graduated from Mary Hardin-Baylor with a degree in Education. Upon graduation, Norma married Santos on July 30, 1964 in Wichita Falls, Texas and began her life as the wife of a young pastor. The couple's pastoral ministry began in the Central Texas towns of Lampasas and Taylor. Norma dedicated her life to being the helpmate of Santos and his ministry for 10 years in Lubbock followed by 32 years at Primera Iglesia Bautista, Carrollton where they cultivated lifelong friends. Norma also led numerous seminars on Church Training alongside Santos at Glorieta Baptist Conference Center in New Mexico, Her second calling was her passion for teaching children. Norma taught preschool at First Baptist Church Carrollton Daycare School as well as elementary school at Carrollton-Farmers Branch l.S.D. Norma is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Ramos of Flower Mound; daughter, Deborah Estrada and her husband, Erikson of Highland Village; son, Roland Ramos of Frisco; daughter, Catherine Ramos and her husband, Andrew Share of Austin and grandson, Andrew William Estrada of Highland Village along with several treasured cousins from the Silva family. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Santos Ramos and her parents, Manuel Vega and Olympia Silva. Norma will be missed greatly by her family, but they know that she is rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God to them who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28

Visitation will start at 6:00 to 6:45 PM, Thursday, May 9, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Carrollton.
Memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, May 9, 2013 at First Baptist Church Carrollton, 2400 N. Josey Lane, Carrollton, TX.
