OBITUARY
A. R. Simmons Passes Away
A. R. Simmons of Addison passed to the Great Beyond Wednesday, July 3,
1929, being 35 years of age. Funeral services were held in Addison in the
Baptist church. Rev. Hedges of the Hebron Baptist church conducting same.
Interment was in Cemetery Hill. A large concourse of sorrowing and sympathetic
friends were present to pay their last respects to one who was taken away in the
prime of young manhood.
Arzie R. Simmons was born in White County, Tenn., Sept 20, 1894, and came
to Texas in 1913. He had lived in Hebron and Addison except for the period
during the World War when he was in the service of his country. He was in Camp
Travis from Oct 8, 1917, to June 23, 1918. Served with the Army of Occupation in
Germany from November 1918 to June 23, 1919. Mr. Simmons was in camp at
San Antonio nine months and overseas one year.
He and Miss Grace Lott of Lewisville
were married October 6, 1917, and to them one son, A. R. Jr., was born, who,
with the mother, mourns the loss of a devoted and loving father. Besides the
wife and son 10 years of age, he leaves his father one sister, and two brothers
to mourn his early departure.
Mr. Simmons was well and favorable known over the community in which he
resided and was loved and respected by all. His family and friends, his business
and the community will greatly miss him.
