OBITUARY
 
Rites held for restaurateur Dorothy Weber Sohrweide

Services were held Saturday at Restland Memorial Chapel in Dallas for Dorothy Weber Sohrweide, vice president and co-owner of Southern Kitchen restaurant in Dallas. She was buried at Restland Memorial Park. Mrs. Sohrweide, 73, died Monday of respiratory failure at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas.

Mrs. Sohrweide was born and raised in Dallas. She and her husband started the first Southern Kitchen restaurant in 1948. They later opened a second Southern Kitchen. That has since closed.

She was a charter member of the Texas Restaurant Association and a co-founder and former officer of the Dallas Women's Auxiliary Restaurant Association.

In 1973, Mrs. Sohrweide was named Woman of the Year at the Northwood Institute, a private Dallas business college that honored her for her work in its restaurant and hotel program.

She is survived by her husband, John Sohrweide; daughter, Sandra Nelson; son, John Sohrweide; and brothers, David Weber and Charles Weber, all of Dallas.
