OBITUARY

Walter Earl Strait

BURLESON - Walter Earl Strait, 35, a professional stuntman and coordinator with the Screen Actors Guild, died Sunday, April 6, 1998, at a hospice after a lengthy and courageous battle with AIDS and progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy.

FUNERAL: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials: Emery J. Lilge Community Hospice House in Burleson or flowers.
Walter earl Strait was born July 1, 1962, in El Paso and grew up in Farmers Branch. He married Brigitte Havens, became the proud father of two boys, Steven and Nicholas, and started his career in stunts. Years later, Walter divorced and later met and married Donna Magouyrk and resided happily  in Arlington until his illness escalated.
Walter was a professional stuntman and coordinator wi the the Screen Actors Guild. He was vice president of Stunt Partners Inc. and did work for film, television and print.  His many employers include Walker Texas Ranger, Geof Kern Studios, Universal Studios, Six Flags Over Texas and Star "S" Productions.
He was also in numerous issues of Worth Magazine and was highlighted in the 1991 yearbook issue of Rolling Stone. He was a stunt double for Robert Forrester and Peter Strauss and among his many talents were highfalls, fire gags, fight and motorcycle and driving stunts.
Walter was a real one-of-a-kind guy.

He was an awesome husband, friend, father, son and brother to us all. Up until his death, he fought with every ounce of his soul to stay with us, but eventually succumbed to this dreadful disease. He made us laugh, and he taught us to seize the day.  He also taught us what love is all about. H will forever be missed and will never be forgotten.

Survivors: Wife, Donna Magouyrk Strait; sons, Steven and Nicholas Strait; mother, Oriealice Strait; sisters, Caryl A. Hill and Mary Fuller; brother, David Strait; in-laws, Don and Nell Magouyrk business partners and friends, J. T. Prigmore, Jim Helms and Audrey Mathis Knowles of Stunt Partners Inc.; and many cherished friends around the world.
