OBITUARY

Former Steamboat Springs resident Jackie L. Stribling died June 8, 2004, in Tyler, Texas. He was 57.

Jackie was born Feb. 2, 1946, in Dallas, Texas, to Jack and Gladys Brooks Stribling. He graduated from North Texas State University with a bachelor's degree in education and psychology.

He worked as a distribution clerk with the U.S. Postal Service in Quitman, Texas, and Steamboat.

He was a former member of the Texas Young Republicans.

He served in the Marines during the Vietnam War, for which he received a bronze star.

Jackie served the Lord well, was a fine Christian man and a loving father, brother, son and husband.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.

Jackie is survived by his wife, Martha Stribling of Winnsboro, Texas; five children, Jana Marie Neal of Huntington Beach, Calif., Brian Banning of Tempe, Ariz., Raymond Banning of Fort Worth, Texas, Sarah Banning of Winnsboro, Texas, and Amber Banning of Winnsboro, Texas; a brother, Elden Stribling and his wife Kitty of Sulphur Springs, Texas; and a sister, Gwin Smith of Plano, Texas.

A funeral service was held June 11, 2004, at the Beaty Funeral Home Chapel in Winnsboro, Texas. Burial is June 14, 2004, in the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
