OBITUARY
 

James Coy Stuart LUBBOCK-James Coy Stuart passed from this life July 26, 2017. James was born September 17, 1933 in Roby, Texas and grew up in Fisher County where he helped with the family farm and dairy until the family moved to Carrollton, Texas where he met the love of his life and wife of 62 years, Shirley Ruth Sprague. James attended Tarleton State College pursuing his interests in livestock and ranching. James served in the occupation forces in Germany as a US Army Marksman and upon his honorable discharge, moved his young family to Lubbock. James worked as the livestock buyer for FarmPac and built a vast network of friends in the farming industry in Lubbock and surrounding area. He was active in the livestock and agricultural community and served as a leader in 4-H. He also served as an official to many area livestock shows. James was passionate about western heritage and preserving the cowboy lifestyle serving as a founder of the Cowboy Symposium Chuckwagon Competition He was known for his cowboy cooking and chuckwagon catering, being featured in the Texas Highways magazine and receiving the Garnet Brooks Chuckwagon Award presented by the Academy of Western Artists. He was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church. James loved his family and had three children, Sandy and her husband Mike Ogletree of Lubbock, Jimmy and his wife Michelle Stuart of Colleyville, TX and David and his wife Elizabeth Stuart of Lubbock. Additionally, his greatest love, the three grandchildren, Vanessa and her husband Jason McBride, Bobby and his wife Ashley Stuart and Trey Ogletree of Lubbock. James was preceded in death by his parents Coy and Florene Stuart of Roby, and a brother, Landon. He is survived by two brothers Don Stuart and Tommy Jack Stuart.
