OBITUARY
Thompson,
Mary Perry Mary Perry Thompson (1924 - 2013) April 21, 1924
- March 30, 2013 Fun. Funny. Gracious. Strong. Loving
matriarch. Always putting others first until her last day
with us on this earth. Mary Perry Thompson passed peacefully
from this world on March 30, 2013 in Carrollton, Texas. She
was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years,
Bill R. Thompson. A beloved wife, sister, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary is survived by her
daughters Suzi Ferrante and husband Russell, Debbie Drill
and husband Scott, grandson Tony Ferrante and wife Jennifer
and great-granddaughters Kyla and Claire. She is also
survived by four of her seven brothers and sisters, Jack
Perry, Martha Williams, Ed Perry and Earl Perry, and many
beloved nieces and nephews. Mary was an active, life-long
member of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton serving in
a variety of capacities including Sunday School teacher,
Vacation Bible School teacher, member of Women's Missionary
Union and on numerous committees. A descendent of
A. W.
Perry, one of the founding fathers of Carrollton, and
daughter of Henry and Edna Perry, Mary was active in the
community and served as a docent at the A. W. Perry
Homestead Museum in Carrollton. Mary worked in the
Carrollton-Farmers Branch school system for 20 years as a
school secretary and later in the school tax office until
she retired at age 62. Mary loved hosting large family
gatherings and welcomed one and all to her parties including
friends and sometimes strangers who joined in the fun. Mary
had a special way about her that made an imprint on the
hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by
family and friends, but her legacy of love and our many
sweet memories will keep her forever in our hearts. Memorial
service will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 10:00
a.m. at Rhoton Funeral Home, 1511 S. I-35 E., Carrollton, TX
75006. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday
evening, April 2nd. In lieu of flowers, donations would be
appreciated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or to the
First Baptist Church of Carrollton.
