EARL EUGENE TINSLEY
October 8, 1924 - April 27, 2014
Earl Eugene Tinsley, 89, of Tyler, passed away on Sunday, April
27, 2014, at home with family members by his side. Born on Oct. 8, 1924,
in Dallas, to Arthur and Myrtle Tinsley, Earl was a World War II
veteran, serving for four years in the Coast Guard and then four years
in the Army Reserve.
His career included being a policeman for the city of Dallas, the first
fire chief for the city of Coppell and owning a nursery before moving on
to manage and then own several Dairy Queens.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond Tinsley,
Gerald Tinsley and
Vernon
Tinsley; and sister, Lois Hott.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gloria; his only son, David and
wife Deborah; his only granddaughter, Kim and husband Edward Ralph Jr.;
three great-grandchildren, Katlynn, Gracie and Allyson; one brother,
William and wife Martha Tinsley; one sister, Alma and husband John
Thompson; and his sisters-in-law, Joy Tinsley and Pearl Tinsley.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at
Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
A graveside service will be in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas at 1:30
p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, with Chaplain Steve Calvert
officiating. Pallbearers will be members of The Coppell Fire Department
Honor Guard.
