1912 Farmers Branch Gin, located on Valley View and Denton Road. H. W. "Ted" Marsh recalled that the steam operated gin belonging to the Marsh family was moved to Farmers Branch in 1895. Some two for three thousand bales of cotton were ginned in a season. Cotton, the main money crop, sold for three cents a pound. Charlie Harrison remembers that in the late 1920's the gin was converted from steam to diesel power. It was a single cylinder engine with huge wheels and clutch operated with a long lever. The smoke stack was changed when they switched to diesel power. Photo courtesy of Mamie Henry Bell. Photo taken before 1889, Photo submitted by Fred Marsh Jr.
