OBITUARY
HOWARD LEE EVITTS
HOWARD LEE
EVITTSwas born January 7, 1920 in Powderly, Kentucky. He
passed away on February 12, 2005 in Carrollton, Texas. He is survived by
his wife of 62 years, Bonnie Evitts and their four children, six
grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He served in the 899th Tank
Destroyer Battalion in World War II. He participated in the invasion of
Tunisia at Casablanca, the invasion of Naples-Foggia, the D-Day invasion
at Normandy, the battle of the Hurtgen Forrest, the Battle of the Bulge,
and the invasion of the Rhineland. He was awarded numerous citations
including the Bronze Star for his years of combat service. In 1950, Mr.
Evitts joined the Dallas Fire Department where he rose to the rank of
Battalion Chief. After serving 26 years in Dallas he also worked for
several years in the Farmers Branch Fire Department as a Chief Officer.
Visitation will be held at Rhoton Funeral Home on Monday, February 14,
2005 from 6-8 pm. Funeral Services to be held on Tuesday, February 15,
2005 at 2:30 pm at First Baptist Church of Carrollton, 2400 N. Josey
Lane. Interment to follow at
Hilltop Memorial Park.
